Happy New Year

Happy New Year, everyone!

Welcome to the Neanderthal’s Journal. I’ve been thinking about starting a woodworking blog for a while, and one of my New Years resolutions is to just get started.

I’m sure that at least some of the people reading this blog aren’t woodworkers; so let me explain the blog’s name. In the woodworking community, those of us who use mostly hand tools are affectionately referred to as “Neanderthals,” or “galloots.” I’m just starting to get active in woodworking and have started down the hand tool rabbit hole.

On this blog I intend to share the projects on which I’m working. I will try to avoid talking too much about techniques, etc (unless, of course, I get requests to cover them). If you have questions about how or why I’m doing something, please send me an email using the form on the “About” page.

I welcome comments, especially from the more seasoned woodworkers out there.

That’s about all for now. I’ll be making a post to kick off my first real furniture build in the next day or two. Stay tuned…

Congrats on what I can see as a great blog. Love the details (for a non-woodworker like me) and the pictures. Thanks for the explanation about the blog title! I knew you had a good reason to use it! :0)
